【Travelogue①】Oboke：大歩危

There are a lot of fascinating places in Shikoku. I visited one of the most wonderful sightseeing spots in Tokushima Prefecture last month. I think this travelogue will get you interested in Shikoku!

 Oboke is located in the east area of Tokushima and on the railroad route connecting north and south area of Shikoku. It is famous area for deep valley of Yoshino river and hard to live because of no flat land. Oboke is the center of this area because there is station where express trains connecting Kouchi city and Okayama city stop. Therefore, you can visit the one of the most mountainous places in Japan very easily by train.

 There are many attractive sightseeing spots in Oboke, so I will introduce some of them to you.

This is a bridge made of plants called Kazura. This bridge is built quite high above the valley and the gaps between the wooden bars which is the floor of this bridge are so large that your feet will fall off if you are not careful,! However, the scenery from the bridge is beautiful.

There is a roadside station next to the bridge where you can get many kinds of local products. I bought ayu fish grilled with salt, which was very delicious.

There are a lot of attractive places except Kazura bridge. I think it is also interesting to ride cruise ship on the Yoshino river and to visit historic house in which Heike clan had lived to escape from enemies and be hidden. I recommend to visit Oboke when you go to Shikoku.
