“THE SUMMER MONSTER” written by Mamune Kusano
Standing on the balcony of the old apartment
looking down on me and smiled
a white sheet is brown by tepid water
get across ditches where no fishes live
get across many ditches riding double on a bicycle
with my arms fragile and totteringly
as if something chased us
on the childish and secret rule we saw
the summer monster I wanted to meet
heavy rain will stop in a flash
when an exteded shadow is drowned
a spider web was wet and shined as if it weeped
it occurred to me that I dare kill it but
the summer monster like you I wanted to meet
on the childish and secret rule we saw this
the summer monster I wanted to meet
my magic words were in vain
the summer monster I wanted to meet
Spitz is a very famous rock band in japan. However, it’s members are so modest that it is not so famous over the sea. I want to introduce it's music and lyrics written by Kusano Masamune.
In my opinion, the clue to translate this lyrics is what you think of monster as.
In Japan, there’s something called “Yukata Magic". That word means that women who wear a Yukata(Japanese traditional costume) at summer festivals look very very cute and beautiful. In many cases, in excited mood such as school festivals people seem to be more attractive than usual and consequently many youth fall in love.
I think the word Monster represents the strange love.
What chase them is that an anxiety that they have to be adults, because they will be between children and adults. The dilemma make main character boy run into a love.
Sadly, however, his love didn’t become accomplished. He wanted to meet summer monster and his magic words(these mean a declaration of love) were in vain.
Please interpret the other words and make your own world and please listen this music because not only lyrics but also sounds and voices are very beautiful.
